Getting Ready to Leave…

Big Red and our 5th wheel

Big Red and our 5th wheel

Our RV is six years old and has been to a lot of campsites across the country.  It is a 32 foot fifth wheel, pulled by an F250 Turbo Diesel pickup truck.  Did I say a Christmas Red pickup truck?!  Named, of course, Big Red.  It’s our 3rd pickup and they have all been named Big Red… The RV is very comfortable with one good sized slideout, and we have spent many a rainy day or bad weather day inside, snug from the elements.  We have all the comforts of home…  It’s just the best way to travel.  (We have also camped in a tent for 30 years, followed by 5 years in a pop-up trailer, and lastly, an RV.)

We have started getting the RV ready to leave May 15th for a camping trip out west for the summer.  Cleaning, making lists, planning, stocking up the pantry, fresh linens… Check!  We are getting there!  The plan is to first head to St. Louis to visit Holly’s sister Nancy.  We’ll figure out our route west towards Richland, Washington as we go…  Holly especially would like to visit with Susie & Kevin and granddaughter Eliza before and after the new baby arrives about June 20th.

As our route unfolds, we will figure out which National Parks and places we want to visit.  We do have another important date to plan for:  Kim & Johnny’s C section date back in Atlanta is set for 8/22 and we would like to be back home by 8/12 to visit with them and grandkids Hank and Lucy before our new granddaughter arrives.  It’s unbelievable to think we will have 5 grandchildren by Christmas, all aged four and under!   Such a fun time in our lives…
