Day 5: Kansas City East KOA – Kansas City, MO

Day 5:  Sat. June 1st.  Kansas City East/Oak Grove KOA – campsite # 20.  Miles:  209

We left Nancy and Gil’s driving west on I-70.  I was hoping to get past Missouri and Kansas but we didn’t even make it out of Missouri.  We saw a lot of flooded rivers and farm lands.  The Missouri River had overflowed it’s banks and was supposed to rise even higher.  I saw flood water amongst the trees for a good mile or so…

The weather was good and it was pleasantly cool (70 degrees and breezy) when we arrived at our campsite around 4:00 pm. We have a good internet signal here so I’m updating the travel blog for the first time in days, and still fumbling my way around the WordPress blog site.

Hi Ann & Frank! We made it to Goodland, Kansas today and the mountain time zone. Only one time zone to go! I hope all is well with you…

Hi Holly and John; thanks for your great visit! We miss you two and are enjoying reading your travel posts. No more storms for a while! Maddie had another great day at the horse show; she won a pony medal class (jumping 2 1/2 feet) and got a $50 gift certificate. The other students did very well, too. Take care, you two, have a safe trip.
