  1. This is Green Gentian (Frasera speciosa), also known as Monument Plant for obvious reasons — it’s huge! can you believe this towering plant is related to the little blue and purple gentians that bloom in the Smokies and Blue Ridge in September? Yeah, me neither!

      Thanks so much for the ID Kristina! I had narrowed it down to Green Gentian and a couple other similar tall spike flowers. There is a great variety of tall spike flowers in the Rockies! I hope your summer is going well at Clingman’s Dome in the Smokies.
